Dorian Renard (b.1995) is a French designer, currently based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. After his Bachelor in France, he earned a MA in Contextual Design at Design Academy Eindhoven, where he graduated in June 2019 with his project “The Beauty of Distortion” in which he looks at plastic with the same admiration as he looks at glass.
Interested in the intrinsic qualities of materials and how they respond to different constraints, his work oscillates between a sculptural and functional approach. As a craftsman, he is attracted by a subversive use of crafting techniques. A practice led by stretching the material’s properties and mixing different know-how is what inspires him to develop his own language. Renard’s work combines objects that refer to different contexts and narratives.
