DESCRIPTION
Harmen Van Der Tuin gets his inspiration from minimalism and abstract expressionism. His works subscribe to the western tradition of gestural painting. The movement becomes the painting, and it’s all about material, about paint, about the sculptural presence. The content of his work explain a new minimalism, the fascination for the sculptural potential, of the brushstroke, and the physical properties of the material, which become subject of the artwork. He mostly prefers monochrome colour, that imposes a balance between form and space.
