From notoriously steep Dutch stairs, to the French Grand staircases or the great rising steps of Indian temples, all of these are majestic and monumental in their own right. But most importantly, it’s a functional piece of architecture that has an illustrious history as a physically and architecturally demanding element allowing ascent – to upper chambers and heightened spiritual states. It is one of the most elegant architectural elements and can be found in different shapes throughout all cultures.
The stair – considered to be the queen of architecture – often provides a place for observation, a place to wander, it is thé in-between place for the “Flâneur”. The beauty and functional simplicity of the stair inspired the design of this necklace – a centrepiece defined by the Flâneur, to be worn by the Flâneur.
